Passenger killed in Uptown car accident

A passenger was killed and the driver was arrested after he lost control of his car in an early Sunday morning accident Uptown.

Luke Allison, 24, was booked with vehicular homicide. His 25-year-old passenger has not been identified pending notification of family members.

According to an NOPD news release, Allison was driving in the 5600 block of Magazine Street at 12:40 a.m. when he lost control of his car and struck a metal pole. The passenger was ejected from the car and taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Allison was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The results of blood and alcohol tests are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.
