KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

Kenner police are looking for man who robbed a store and assaulted a cashier Tuesday.

The robbery happened just after 1:30 p.m. at the International Foods grocery in the 3200 block of Georgia Avenue.

Police said a black male wearing all black, black gloves, a black hat and a lime green reflective vest entered the store, immediately went around the counter and began beating a 45-year-old female cashier. He then grabbed a liquor bottle that he used to beat the female victim.

After the beating, the suspect demanded money and then fled on a bicycle east on 32nd Street. The amount of money taken was not disclosed. Surveillance video captured images of the suspect, who police said may have been armed with a gun.

The cashier was hospitalized with serious injuries, including a broken nose, lacerations and contusions to her body.

Chief Michael Glaser urges anyone with information concerning the incident to call Kenner Police Detective Lashonda Woodfork at (504) 712-2315 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
