City issues traffic reminders ahead of Krewe of Boo

The city is issuing parking instructions and reminders in advance of the Krewe of Boo parade scheduled for Thursday. Drivers should prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the Marigny and French Quarter. The city issued the following restrictions:

Starting at 6 p.m., the parade will form on Elysian Fields Avenue and North Peters Street. It will then turn right onto North Peters Street in an uptown direction on North Peters Street (against traffic against the flood wall). Upon reaching Dumaine Street, it will continue in an uptown direction with the normal flow of traffic on Decatur Street to North Peters Street, to Canal Street, turn right onto Canal Street to Bourbon Street where it will loop to the opposite side of Canal Street to Tchoupitoulas Street to turn right on Tchoupitoulas Street to Julia Street to turn left onto Julia Street to Convention Center Boulevard to make a right turn onto Convention Center Boulevard onto Henderson Street and proceed to Mardi Gras World. The disband area will begin at Tchoupitoulas Street and St. Joseph Street, the floats and riders will proceed to Henderson Street turn left onto Henderson to Mardi Gras World East, where the riders will disembark with the lone band. The parade will end at 9 p.m.

The parade will include no parking zones on the river bound side of Elysian Fields Avenue between North Peters Street and Royal Street from noon until 8 p.m. and on both sides of North Peters Street between Esplanade Avenue and Conti Street from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking. This includes blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection, or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
