RACELAND, LA (WVUE) - Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested a teen following a shooting in Raceland. The incident occurred Friday at 10:45 a.m. near Greenville Street.
According to police, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Department received a call saying that someone has been shot. Responding officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He was brought to a hospital in New Orleans where he is listed in stable condition with a non-life threatening injury.
Deputies identified their suspect as Dwaynete Folse after learning from witnesses that he was seen driving away following the shooting. Detectives later located Folse and pulled him over on Highway 1. He was taken into custody without incident. Deputies found several wrapped bags of suspected marijuana in Folse's possession. Once police obtained a search warrant for his car, they located a 9mm pistol. The bullets from the firearm matched the casings found at the shooting scene, police say.
Folse was taken in for questioning where he admitted to shooting at the victim. He told police that he and the victim have been in a feud for several weeks. He also told detectives that earlier in the day, he did have a child in the car with him while in possession of the marijuana. He was booked in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center with attempted second degree murder, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17 years old. His bond was set at $111,000.
