NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Children around the country are willingly handing over their Halloween candy.
Several dentists around the New Orleans area are 'buying back' sweets from trick-or-treaters. Nearly 3,000 dentists nationwide are taking part in this year's Halloween candy buy-back program.
Children can hand over their candy for prizes and in some cases even cash. Dentists say the program helps teach kids how to live a healthy life.
The candy does not go to waste. It will be sent to active U.S. military through Operation Gratitude.
