NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A suspect in a deadly Central City shooting is seen on surveillance video fleeing the scene of the crime, police say.

New Orleans police are asking for help identifying a suspect in the October 26 shooting on 27-year-old Alfred Johnson.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Washington Avenue around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired in the area. Crews arriving on the scene found Johnson lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the course of the investigation, detectives say they obtained surveillance video capturing the suspect fleeing the scene.

The suspect has been described as a black male with a dark complexion. Officers say he is 30-35 years old and just under 6-feet tall. Police describe the suspect as having a stocky build and weighing between 170-200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a navy blue and white striped shirt and dark blue jean shorts.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Detective Barret Morton at (504) 658-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
