TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The body of a 32-year-old woman was found shot to death inside of a burning vehicle.
The New Orleans Police Department announced on Monday that the homicide investigation of Kimberly Bowman, 32, will be led by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
On October 20, fires crews state that the charred remains of Bowman were found inside of a burning vehicle near the intersection of Desire and Florida in New Orleans. Following an autopsy, police say that Bowman died as the result of a gunshot wound.
Bowman was allegedly last seen on October 19 leaving her Hammond residence on Wardline Road. A day later, her remains were found inside her 2008 Ford Taurus in New Orleans.
Over the course of the investigation by New Orleans police, detectives say they learned that the homicide occurred in Tangipahoa Parish. The investigation was then turned over to Tangipahoa Parish officials.
The New Orleans Police Department states that they will continue to assist in the investigation. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is now the lead agency in the investigation.
