'Negro' is acceptable term for black soldiers, U.S. Army policy states

A spokesperson for the U.S. Army says they are reviewing a section of regulations which states service members can be referred to as ‘Negro,' according to CNN.

(WVUE) - The spokesperson confirms that that language is contained in its October 22 Army Command Policy document.

The regulation is periodically updated. However, the Army could not say how recently the word was added to the document.

An Army spokesperson says that racial definitions are "outdated, currently under review, and will be updated shortly."
