Woman dead in Central City shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a deadly shooting after a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside of a vehicle in Central City.

Police first received reports of the of a traffic accident just after 3 a.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Foucher Street. A silver Mercedes sedan crashed into a parked blue Saturn, police said.

Officers arriving on the scene found the unresponsive victim still in the driver's seat of the Mercedes, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her body.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

Police have set up a large crime scene in the area as they attempt to locate the original scene of the shooting.
