NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - According to the Saints calendar, November is when they start to separate themselves from the pack.
Since Sean Payton has arrived in New Orleans, the Saints have owned the 11th month. Last year's stunning loss to the New York Jets snapped a ten-game win streak of November games. Since 2009, the Saints are 13-1 with Payton on the sideline in November.
His home record during November is even more impressive. The last time Payton lost a game inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome during this month was November 11, 2007, against the then-winless St. Louis Rams. That's a streak of nine consecutive wins.
But what does success in November really symbolize? Is there something to it or is it just a statistical quirk?
The answer is simple. At this point in the season, the Saints figure themselves out and know who they are. And if what they are is talented, now is the time they start to capitalize on those assets.
In other words, now is the usually the time the Saints start to make a run.
