Don't forget to protect you car in cold weather

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Frigid weather can take a toll on your vehicle.

Tire pressure, battery power and antifreeze are just some of the things you need check to ensure your car is ready for cold temperatures.

Auto shop workers say fluctuation in tire pressure is the biggest issue for most drivers.

"We've got a lot of people coming in and they've got low tire pressure lights on. And that's because of the big difference in the cold air that causes fluctuation like that you know. So we are checking them and getting the pressure where they need to be," Kevin Poulos of David Poulos Tire & Auto said.

Poulos says it's not a good idea to put just water in windshield washer tanks because it can freeze. Windshield washer fluid contains anti-freeze to prevent that problem.
