Despite all-day sunshine, highs barely made it to 50 degrees.
With clear skies, diminishing winds and very dry air, temperatures will approach record lows Saturday morning. The north shore will see a moderate to hard freeze (24-28), with a light freeze (28-32) on the south shore away from Lake Pontchartrain.
Bright sunshine will rapidly warm temperatures to near 60 on Saturday before clouds spread in during the afternoon. Much milder Saturday night and highs Sunday should top 70.
Our next cold front will have showers ahead of it for late Sunday into early Monday morning. Another Arctic blast even colder than today will sweep through, bringing more freezing temperatures for next week.
