VIOLET, LA (WVUE) - A 49-year-old Slidell man was shot to death after allegedly striking the daughter of his estranged wife.
Ricky Moser, 49, is dead following the incident.
The shooting happened around midnight Wednesday at a home in the 2100 block of Riverpark Drive in Violet. The home belongs to Tammy Martin, the estranged wife of Moser. Martin had a protective order in effect against Moser at the time of the incident, sheriffs say.
Moser allegedly stuck Raquel Nicolosi, 21, in the head with an expandable baton. Nicolosi was visiting the home of her mother, Tammy Martin. Martin wasn't home during the incident, authorities said.
Kory Mattox, 21, is identified as the boyfriend of Nicolosi. Police say Mattox retrieved a shotgun and shot Moser in the chest following the attack. Mattox was questioned by authorities but is free pending further investigation, sheriffs say.
The St. Bernard Sheriff's Office recently obtained warrants for the arrest of Moser on charges of simple burglary to Martin's home and violation of the protective order.
Moser was shown on video surveillance entering Martin's home about a week ago and the residence was damaged inside, the sheriff said.
The incident remains under investigation.
