Slidell man arrested in Wednesday night drive-by shooting

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

A Slidell man has been arrested following a drive-by shooting on Wednesday night.

Giovonta Williams, 21, allegedly admitted to firing shots at a vehicle on Wednesday night. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Marsha Street.

A man and his two sons were driving through a subdivision when a suspect drove past them and fired several rounds at their vehicle, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. Some of the rounds struck a house.

Deputies were able to determine the license plate number of the suspect's vehicle and identified Williams as a suspect. He was located at his residence on Tiffany Street around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Williams has been charged with assault by drive-by shooting, aggravated criminal damage and illegal use of a weapon. He is being held on a $140,000 bond.
