The New Orleans Police Department make a quick arrest in a shooting incident that happened early Saturday night. The shooting happened at the intersection of Canal Street and Convention Center Boulevard around 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
According to a NOPD press release, witnesses in the area saw 17-year-old Charles Garner, firing several shots at an unknown victim before fleeing on foot. Officers in the area working security detail for the Bayou Classic, heard the shots fired then chased Garner before apprehended him in 400 block of Canal Street. Garner was in possession of a stolen semi-automatic handgun.
Police say the victim, a 17-year-old male, was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital where he was treated then released.
