Police seek suspect in Assault on Algiers home

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused for firing a handgun through the front door of another man's home.

Police are searching for 26-year-old Jamal Brooks in connection with an Aggravated Assault that occurred on Nov. 27 at 831 Wagner Street.

Police say that the victim answered his front door around 11:30 p.m. that night and Brooks was standing on the other side, gun in hand. The victim closed the door on Brooks at which point Brooks shot through the door, but missed the victim. The victim sustained injuries to the face during the incident and was treated at a local hospital.

NOPD says that Brooks was positively identified during the investigation resulting in a warrant for his arrest. He is wanted for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Criminal Damage to Property (five counts), Illegal Carrying of Weapons and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Police warn that he is considered armed and dangerous and has an arrest history for murder, aggravated assault, possession of weapons and resisting arrest.
