After Further Review: Who are these guys?

PITTSBURGH, PA (WVUE) - If there's one thing I know for sure about the 2014 New Orleans Saints, it's that I DON'T know the 2014 New Orleans Saints.

Seriously, who are these guys? Can anyone tell me?

The Saints came into Pittsburgh, Sunday, losers of three straight home games, on a short week, against a Steelers team coming off a bye and had won four of their previous five games. It had all the makings of disaster.

It ended up being their best performance of the season. Just like we all thought it would go right?

Uh, wrong. At least not me.

For a day they looked the old Saints again. Drew Brees was on point. He threw 19 completions to nine different receivers. He threw five touchdowns to five different receivers. He didn't turn the ball over and took full advantage of the two takeaways the defense gave him by cashing in with two touchdowns.

"I thought every time they scored we were able to answer," a relieved Coach Sean Payton said afterwards.

Indeed they did. It was the type of complementary game we haven't seen much this season.

It was the kind of head-scratching performance that made you WANT to believe they are back on track.

But you can't. Not even the thickest of black and gold glasses can envision that.

What they did prove is this thing isn't over. As a consistently inconsistent team, the '14 Saints are completely capable of games like Sunday. But equally as capable of clunkers like Cincinnati.

So now it's time to simply wait it out and see what happens. And know that absolutely ANYTHING is possible with the 2014 Saints.
