OPSO recruit dies in Mid City shooting

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 24-year-old man dead.

The incident occurred Sunday around 7:00 p.m. near the intersection of North Johnson and Orleans. Police say that after the victim was shot, he drove to the neutral ground in the 2800 block of Orleans before coming to a stop.

The victim was found in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to his side. He was pronounced dead on the scene. According to an Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the victim has been identified as OPSO recruit Arron White.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Recruit White at this most difficult time," Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlon Gusman said.
