Japan's largest cellphone carrier has adopted some unusual marketing to stay competitive, and the video has gone viral on YouTube.
The ad doesn't feature users texting or playing games or images of businessmen making important connections. Instead, it features flying shrimp. And flames.
NTT Domoko's commercial, titled “Three-Second Cooking: Explosively Fast Fried Shrimp,” features two chefs demonstrating their unique cooking technique as a metaphor for the company's mobile data speeds.
The company hopes the wacky approach will help reverse its recent sharp earnings decline - or at the very least endear the brand to people who appreciate a good viral video.
