Firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze in the 4600 block of Eastern Street just before 3 p.m. The first NOFD company to arrive found a single-family, single-story, wood-framed home with the rear of the home fully involved. An elderly man told firefighters that his sister was still inside. The woman was found unresponsive in a front bedroom.

The fire was brought under control at 3:21 p.m. There were no other injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Hardy said the home did have smoke detectors.
