Officers arrested 11 suspects, issued six summons and broke up a family's alleged drug dealing operation in St. Tammany Parish. During two weeks in November, the parish's narcotics task force executed seven search warrants, leading to the arrests.

Police started taking people into custody in Covington on Nov. 10. Eugene Honora, Jr. was arrested on several drug charges after a short car chase that started in the 72000 block of Violet St. He was out on parole at the time of the arrest.

On Nov. 13, the task force arrested Timothy Bedford and Barron Magee on drug charges in the 800 block of West 28th Avenue. Bedford was also on parole at the time of his arrest.

Six days later, narcotics agents conducted a state search warrant in the 600 block of North Claiborne Street as part of a month-long investigation. Freddie Marigny and Cheryl Sneeze were arrested after officer found a half pound of marijuana. Approximately $750 was seized from the home.

Three other people were issued summons for possession of marijuana when officers found them sitting at a dinner table smoking the drug. They are Ashten Duncan, Daisy Pierre and Beverly Duncan. Rene Wells and Tobia Toomer were also issued summons when they arrived at the location to buy marijuana.

The investigation moved to Slidell, where the task force executed four search warrants with the help of the sheriff's office SWAT team on two of them. Homeland Security agents and the Drug Enforcement Agency also helped the task force. The sheriff's department said these searches were key in the dismantling of a family drug dealing operation.

Several undercover purchases were made in the 36000 block of Browns Village Road. Bernard Evans, Catherine Swanson and Charmaine Anderson were all booked on a number of drug charges.

On the same day, officers raided a residence in the 37000 block of West Pinehill, seizing cocaine, a gun, materials for making crack, and other drugs. Charles Thompson and Sharnel Donaldson were arrested.

The sheriff's SWAT team executed a search warrant at Marcel Thompson's residence in the 300 block of Tumblebrook Street. Officers said they recovered a handgun and one ounce of marijuana. Sanita Thomas was arrested and released after being given a summons for possession.

The SWAT team also executed a search warrant in the 36000 block of Edwards Street. There, police said they discovered 18 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, a scale and a stolen revolver. While officers were at the location, Marcel Thompson arrived on scene and claimed possession of the gun, cocaine and drug paraphernalia that was found at his Tumblebrook residence.

Marcel Thompson has an extensive criminal history including possession of stolen property, armed robbery, aggravated battery, resisting an officer, aggravated rape and drug distribution. He is a convicted felon.

Sheriff Jack Strain said the Thompson family was part of a dangerous drug operation.

“The work of the St. Tammany Narcotics Task Force in these cases will take more than a dozen dangerous drug dealers off the streets of our parish. Combined efforts such as these are an indication of how well law enforcement throughout St. Tammany works together for the protection of our citizens,” Strain said.
