The man accused of killing a Good Samaritan nearly three years ago in Algiers heads to court Thursday.
Kendall Harrison, now 20-years-old, allegedly shot and killed Mike Ainsworth in 2012.
Police say Harrison pulled a gun on a woman as she was getting ready for work on January 25, 2012.
Officers say Ainsworth was standing at a bus stop with his two children when he heard screams for help. Ainsworth attempted to help the woman in her vehicle. After a struggle, Harrison fired through the front window of the car, striking Ainsworth.
A neighbor described the tragic scene.
"I just saw him laying there. But I know [his children] were crying their eyes out – daddy, daddy, daddy - and I got them away from it 'cause I didn't want them to see that," explained Al Schmitt, the victim's neighbor.
Harrison faces charges of second degree murder and armed robbery.
