An early morning car accident in Mid City claims the life of a motorcyclist. According to an NOPD press release, the accident happened Saturday morning about 2:50 a.m. on Tulane Avenue and South Rocheblave Street.
Police say the rider, a 34-year-old male from New Orleans, was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Tulane Ave. when he collided with a Chevy Avalanche truck that was traveling eastbound on South Rocheblave Street as the truck was crossing Tulane.
The rider was transported to a local area hospital where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Chevy Avalanche, a 31-year-old male from Metairie, was not injured.
Blood and alcohol tests are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will release the victim's name and will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
