Confrontation at Houma Wendy's leads to shooting arrest

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A 23-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly followed a victim from a Houma Wendy's and fired shots at his vehicle.

Malcolm Diggs, 23, was arrested following the shooting on Monday.

Police first received reports of a disturbance involving a gun at a Wendy's restaurant in Houma around 12:40 a.m. Monday. The Wendy's is located in the 5900 block of West Main Street.

Shortly after receiving the initial report, police received a second call. Officers say the suspect followed the victim, identified as an acquaintance of the suspect's ex-girlfriend, to a location on Westside Boulevard. Diggs allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim's vehicle.

The victim was not injured but his vehicle was struck multiple times.

Police apprehended Diggs a short time later. Taken to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office for questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to being in possession of a handgun when he confronted his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of Wendy's. Police say Diggs also admitted to shooting the weapon while following the victim's vehicle on Westside Boulevard.

He has been charged with aggravated criminal damage to property, domestic abuse and illegal use of a weapon.

He is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a $150,000 bond.
