Young Houma actress nominated for Golden Globe

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A young Houma actress has been nominated for a Golden Globe.

Quvenzhane (kwah-vahn'-jah-nay) Wallis, 11, has been nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy film.

Wallis was nominated for her performance in "Annie." The 11-year-old plays the film's title character in the 2014 contemporary adaptation of the classic musical. Wallis stars in the film alongside Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx.

Also nominated in the category are: Amy Adams, "Big Eyes"; Emily Blunt, "Into the Woods"; Helen Mirren, "The Hundred Foot Journey"; and Julianne Moore, "Maps to the Stars."

The Golden Globe Awards will be presented on January 11, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
