Warren Easton comes up short in 4A championship

Despite a furious late fourth quarter rally with 14 points in the final three and a half minutes, the Warren Easton Eagles fell in the Class 4A State Championship, 28-27 to Neville.

Easton scored the game's first 13 points, before the Tigers answered with a pair of touchdowns to make it 14-13 at the break. Neville added to its tally, making it a 28-13 game before the Eagles finally got back on track.

Darrell Clark opened the scoring with a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Eagles. Then Deshawn Capers-Smith connected with Darren Holmes on a 43-yard catch and run for a score.

Trailing 28-13, Capers-Smith found Clark to close the gap, before the duo connected again to make it 28-25. Easton added the two-point conversion, but Neville recovered the onside kick, and ran out the clock to win the game.
