NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A group of eight men is responsible for three muggings in the French Quarter on Wednesday night in which one person was stabbed, police say.
The muggings occurred around 10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Governor Nicholls Street.
A 21-year-old man tells police that he was walking down the street when he was approached by eight men, one armed with a gun. He tells police the men approached from behind and surrounded him.
The gunman demanded the victim's phone. The victim complied and handed over his Galaxy Samsung cell phone.
The 21-year-old tells police he heard the gunman yell to the other suspects "Go get them," referring to two other men walking down the street. The two other men were unknown to the first victim.
These two men, identified as a 43-year-old and a 21-year-old, tell police they were approached by three men. One of the suspects produced a knife and began stabbing the 43-year-old victim.
The suspects fled without taking anything.
The stabbing victim was transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
