Vandals cause $15K in damage at Slidell baseball park

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - Police are looking for at least one person who caused serious damage to equipment and a facility at the Slidell baseball fields.

The break in at the park happened sometime between Dec. 12-17, according to Slidell Bantam Baseball Association President Charlie Hickman.

"Unfortunately SBBA suffered a break in at the park. The Perpetrator(s) caused serious damage to equipment and the facility costing approximately 15,000.00 in repairs," Hickman said.

The money was budgeted to make improvements at the baseball fields. Hickman hopes the public can help identify the thieves.

"Although we are a non-profit organization, we are prepared to offer a $500 reward to anyone that comes forward and provides information that leads to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for such a horrific act," Hickman said.

Hickman and the Slidell Police Department did not specifically go into the nature of the damage or what was taken from the park.
