WESTWEGO, LA (WVUE) - One woman was killed and another was in critical condition Tuesday after a shooting in unincorporated Westwego.
The incident was reported at 6:17 p.m. First responding officers found the body of a black female sitting in a chair in front of 900 N. Claiborne Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Andrea Grant of Violet, was pronounced dead on the scene.
A second victim, identified as 65-year-old Percy Cole of Claiborne Parkway, was shot once in the chest. She was taken to University Hospital, where she is currently in critical condition.
According to several people who were inside the home, Grant was sitting outside with an unknown black male when gunshots rang out. Witnesses reported seeing a black vehicle fleeing the scene following the shooting.
Homicide investigators believe Cole was sitting in a chair inside of her home when the shots were fired. Police said several bullets came through the wall, one of them striking her in the chest.
