JPSO: Man arrested for Westwego murder, shooting

JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish Investigators have made an arrest in shooting that left one dead and one injured. Jarius Cole, 19, of Westwego was taken into custody after being identified by witnesses. The shooting occurred Tuesday around 5:40 p.m. in the 900 block of N. Claiborne Avenue in Westwego.

Police say that during questioning, Cole admitted to killing his girlfriend, identified as 20-year-old Andrea Grant, over a domestic issue. Grant was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on the scene. Cole also admitted to getting rid of the weapon, but police have yet to locate it.

Also injured in the shooting was 65-year-old Peggy Cole, who was shot in the chest. She remains at University Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Cole was transported to the Jefferson Parish Jail and booked with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempted second degree murder.
