GRETNA, LA (WVUE) -

Oakwood Center mall reopened Friday at 9 a.m. for after Christmas sales with the exception of Foot Locker. Cardboard blocked the view into the store where James Vaughn, 24, was shot and killed Christmas Eve.

The crowd looked lighter than expected in the parking lot outside the mall while Oakwood security and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office patrolled, watching out for the shoppers.

Investigators said the shooting was an isolated case. They believe Gary François, 25, of Marrero targeted Vaughn, and while the shooting in a crowded mall on Christmas Eve caused panic, no one else was hurt.

Shoppers said they would not let the shooting stop them from going to the mall.
