Police standoff in Lafourche Parish ends peacefully

A police stand off in Lafourche Parish ended peacefully after police convinced the suspect to put down his weapon and surrender.

Golden Meadow Police responded to someone calling 911 and hanging up in an apartment complex on South Alex Plaisance Drive around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Golden Meadow Chief of Police Reggie Pitre.

According to authorities, officers arrived at the scene and found 45-year-old Shane Louviere inside an apartment with a gun. Louviere refused to leave the apartment until around 1:15 p.m. when the stand off ended. Negotiators convinced Louviere to put down his weapon and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation. No charges have been filed in this case.
