Inaccurate UNO fiscal report leads to 'significant errors,' auditors say

For the second year in a row, the University of New Orleans did not file an accurate annual fiscal report. That's according to a report by the state auditor.

The report resulted in “significant errors,” auditors say, including inadequate controls over parking tickets issued on campus between July 2013 and June 2014.

Auditors also say they found that expenses and revenues have decreased over the past five years. Expenses outpaced revenues for the past three years, according to the audit.

The decline in federal revenues and state appropriations was partially offset by an increase in tuition and fees. Since 2010, net tuition and fee revenues have increased by 18 percent. The increases in tuition rates are offset by a 20 percent decline in enrollment at UNO.
