Police say Gentilly double shooting wasn't random

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Investigators said Friday that they believe one of the men killed in a New Year's Day shooting in Gentilly was targeted.

Desmond Lange Sr. and Desmond Lange Jr. died in a barrage of gunfire as they were working on a truck in the driveway of their Warrington Drive home. Police recovered at least 20 casings from a .40-caliber gun.

"The investigation is ongoing, and I can't speak to specifics," said New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison. "What I can tell you is that the preliminary information that we're getting is that it was not random, and that the father was not the intended target, and that it appears at this point that the son perhaps was."

Police said they are looking for a single shooter but did not give any other details.
