NOPD: Vehicle sought in Algiers double shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Police are searching for a vehicle wanted in connection with a double shooting Monday night in Algiers.

The shooting injured a 20-year-old male and a 22-year-old female in the 800 block of Sumner Street shortly before 10 p.m.

Police say the victims were walking in the area when a vehicle pulled up and the occupants opened fire striking both victims. The suspects fled the area down Sumner Street toward Opelousas Street.. The male sustained a graze wound above the eye and the female sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects were driving an older model, possibly 2005-2009, gray or silver 4-door Buick Sedan.

Further investigation revealed a hit-and-run occurred in the 800 block of Belleville Street after the shooting took place involving a gray or silver Buick Sedan. Detectives believe this may be the same vehicle as the vehicle used in the shooting.
