NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Authorities are looking for a juvenile charged with simple assault after he cut an electronic monitoring device off of his body.
Orleans Parish deputies received an alert that the device had been tampered with around 6 a.m. on Thursday. Deputies quickly found the device, according to the sheriff's office. However, the boy wearing it had fled.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of criminal damage to property and tampering with an electronic monitoring device. Because he is a juvenile, his name is being withheld.
The sheriff's office has notified the New Orleans Police Department and the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court judge overseeing the suspect's case.
