Sat 2/14 Uptown 11am Krewe of Iris

Named for the Goddess of the Rainbow and Messenger to the Gods, the krewe sticks to strict Carnival traditions, wearing full-length masks and white gloves. The Krewe of Iris has 900 riders, 32 floats, 12 equestian units and marching bands. Throws include emblem cups, medallion beads, ceramic Iris beads, dolls and doubloons. The Krewe Captain throws her own special doubloon which is a popular item each year.


Route Description
  • Parade starts at Napoleon Ave and Tchoupitoulas St.
  • Parade proceeds north to St. Charles Ave, then turns right (east).
  • Parade follows St. Charles Ave to Lee Circle, goes around the circle and back on St. Charles Ave (north) to Canal St.
  • The parade turns left (northwest) onto Canal St  to Burgundy Street, u-turns, and then proceeds on the opposite side of Canal St (southeast).
  • Parade ends at Canal St and North Peters St.
