LSU hires Kevin Steele as new defensive coordinator

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Former Alabama linebackers coach Kevin Steele is set to become LSU's new defensive coordinator. Steele replaces John Chavis, who left LSU for the same position at Texas A&M following the Tigers' Music City Bowl defeat to Notre Dame.

Steele spent the past two seasons with the Crimson Tide, after a four-year stint as the DC for Clemson. Steele has also been a head coach, leading Baylor from 1999-2002.

LSU finished the 2014 season ranked as the top overall defense in the SEC.

He sits just 1,495 yards away from passing Peyton Manning on the NFL all-time leading passer list. The team he leads, is also a...more>>
