BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Known as one of the best college football recruiters in the country, Ed Orgeron will now make his mark at LSU.
A day after hiring Kevin Steele as its new defensive coordinator, LSU has hired Orgeron to coach its defensive line and help lead the recruiting charge in Louisiana and across the nation.
Orgeron has coached at both the collegiate and professional levels, and sat out the 2014 season after a second stint at USC, where he served as the Trojans' interim head coach in 2013. He also was the Ole Miss head coach from 2005-2007 and the Saints defensive line coach in 2008.
A Louisiana native and Northwestern State grad, Orgeron becomes a huge asset for the LSU football program with a unique skill set of developing defensive live talent.
LSU has called a 4 p.m. press conference to introduce Steele and Orgeron to the coaching staff. National signing day is three weeks from Wednesday.
