Owner robbed of over $2K outside of New Orleans East store

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The owner of a New Orleans East grocery store was robbed of over $2,000 in cash outside of his store, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The armed robbery happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 9500 block of Hayne Blvd. in New Orleans East.

Officers say that the 55-year-old owner of Habibi Grocery Store was getting into his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect stuck a gun into the victim's side and demanded cash.

Officers say that the suspect fled the scene with $2,200 in cash.
