The deadline for Jackson Square artists to renew their permits is January 31. City code requires artists who sell their work on or around Jackson Square to obtain a license and permit from the Department of Finance's Bureau of Revenue. The city says all permit holders who wish to renew must apply in person, present a valid photo ID and be prepared to pay $175.25 in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to the City of New Orleans. Once the renewal process is finished, the city announced it will manage a new, more efficient lottery system to select new Artist A permit holders for 2015. City code allows a maximum of 200

Artist A permits. Artist A permits allow the artist to sell art on and in the vicinity of Jackson Square. Artists with Artist B permits are only allowed to sell in the vicinity of Jackson Square.

The lottery for any available spots will be held February 5, and applicants will be required to be present during the lottery at 11:00 a.m.

For more information, contact the Department of Finance's Bureau of Revenue, Application Unit, at (504) 658-1661 or (504) 658-1643 or (504) 658-1645. To download the city's guide for artists, click here
