WASHINGTON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for an illegal immigrant accused of raping a juvenile in December.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging 22-year-old Luis Enrique Garcia Madera with aggravated rape. Madera is an illegal immigrant from Campeche, Mexico.

Sheriff's investigators say Madera had been in the United States for about a year. During that time he worked construction jobs in and around Washington Parish. He is also believed to have ties in St. Tammany Parish and New Orleans, and often plays piano for churches.

Investigators said once Madera learned about the investigation, he left his home in Franklinton and has yet to return or communicate with his family.

The Sheriff's Office is working with the U.S. Border Patrol to locate Madera and bring him back to Washington Parish.

"If you know where Madera might be hiding, please let us know. He committed a serious crime in our parish and must be brought to justice," Sheriff Randy Seal said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff's Office investigators at (985) 661-2021.
