15-year-old found with loaded, stolen gun in stolen car

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A 15-year-old male was arrested Monday (Jan. 19) and booked with possession of a stolen gun, possession of a stolen vehicle and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to New Orleans police.

The incident took place at noon at O'Reilly and North Dorgenois Street.

Officers were on proactive patrol when they saw a young male driver and two young occupants parking a car next to a restaurant. When they checked the license plate of the vehicle, it came back as stolen. As the officers approached, the driver fled on foot and was able to escape. The officers detained the two other subjects.

Police said the 15-year-old was in possession of a fully loaded handgun. The other juvenile was questioned and released. Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the gun was also reported stolen.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are trying to determine the identity of the third suspect.
