Bicycle rider pedals away with stolen generator

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police arrested a man who they say decided to steal a generator from a neighbor's house, using a bicycle as his get-away vehicle.   The theft reportedly happened Monday night in the area of Mary Ann Street.

Police Officer Walter Tenney was patrolling the area around 8 p.m. when he reportedly observed a man pedaling down the street, carrying a generator on the handle bars.

The officer was able to determine that the generator had just been stolen from a nearby home.  They arrested the bicycle rider, identified as 50 year old Kimball Nevis, also of Houma.

During the arrest, police say they found drug paraphernalia on Nevis which was seized as evidence.

Nevis was arrested for theft and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail, awaiting trial or bond.

The generator was returned to owner.
