NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Thursday afternoon lockdowns at Benjamin Franklin High School and The University of New Orleans have been lifted.

The lockdowns began after New Orleans police were chasing a stolen vehicle Thursday morning when the perpetrator got out behind Benjamin Franklin High School and is reported to have fled towards UNO's campus. Officers are searching for at least one person involved with the car theft.

Police believe the perpetrator was near Pontchartrain Halls.

All classes at UNO have been canceled for the remainder of the day.

Ben Franklin is located in the 2000 block of Leon C. Simon Drive.
