Man wanted in New Orleans double shooting arrested in Avoyelles Parish motel

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man wanted in a deadly New Orleans double shooting was arrested inside of a small motel in Avoyelles Parish.

Dwight Harvey, 34, was booked with murder and attempted murder following a double shooting on January 18.

Police responded to a call of a man shot in the 3000 block of Derbigny Street. Reports came in around 12:45 p.m.

Officers arriving on the scene found a male shot multiple times to the body lying on a porch of a house. EMS transported the victim to the hospital. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that another male was shot inside of a house in the 1600 block of Montegut Street. Officers arrived and found a victim fatally shot.

During the course of the investigation, officers say they were able to identify Harvey as a suspect. He was located and arrested at a motel in Avoyelles Parish on Thursday.

Harvey will be extradited to New Orleans and booked accordingly.
