NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A suspect wanted for committing seven armed robberies over the past three weeks is behind bars, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police arrested 31-year-old Sidney Williams Thursday night and booked him in connection with seven separate Armed Robberies, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
All seven of the armed robberies took place in January. They include:
January 4, 2015 at the Rally's located in the 3200 block of South Carrollton Avenue
January 9, 2015 at the Popeye's located in the 4200 block of South Claiborne Avenue
January 15, 2015 at the Wendy's located in the 3100 block of South Carrollton Avenue
January 15, 2015 at the Burger King located in the 2400 block of South Carrollton Avenue
January 17, 2015 at the Shell located in the 3100 block of South Carrollton Avenue.
January 19, 2015 at the Dollar General located in the 2800 block of South Claiborne Avenue
January 22, 2015 at the Wendy's located in the 4200 block of South Claiborne Avenue
In all seven of the crimes, Williams was armed with a handgun and demanded cash. After the cashiers complied, he fled the location. Surveillance video shows the suspect using the same gun and was dressed in the same clothes for all the robberies and seen fleeing on a bicycle.
On January 22, detectives learned that Williams was living at a home in the 2900 block of General Taylor Street and went to the location. When detectives arrived, Williams attempted to escape through the back door of the location and was apprehended.
