Cocaine, ecstasy seized in Assumption Parish drug bust

BERTRANDVILLE, LA - Police busted two suspected drug dealers in Assumption Parish carrying cocaine, Adderall and more.

According to Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack, deputies were dispatched to Bertrand Street around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 after someone in the area was allegedly threatened by two men. Police say the suspects, 30-year-old Brandon Harris and 26-year-old Wilbert Caldwell, were standing next to an older model brown pickup truck.

Police say Caldwell was seen tossing what appeared to be small cellophane bags onto the ground as police approached and both men appeared very nervous during questioning and kept glancing into the back of the truck. Deputies looked into the truck bed and noticed clear plastic bags filled with suspected marijuana in plain view, leading to the arrests of both men.

Upon search, police found that the two men had over $1,000 in small bills between the two of them. Narcotics agents were called to the scene and found about 6.5 pounds of marijuana, 18.2 grams of crack cocaine, 40 ecstasy pills and 17 Adderall pills.
