Suspect sought in CBD car theft

The NOPD has issued a warrant for the arrest of man of stealing an SUV Friday in the Central Business District.

Police said 29-year-old Mexes Jones entered a parking lot in the 900 block of Common Street at about 1:30 a.m. and stole a black 2010 Cadillac CTS with Texas license plate GF89JS. Jones was last seen driving out of the garage heading toward Canal Street.

Police said Jones returned to the parking garage on Monday (Feb. 2) to steal another car, but he was run off by employees before officers arrived.

Jones is described as a black male, 5'3”tall and approximately 125 pounds.
