Police: Mudbug bandit stuffs frozen tails down his pants

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A shoplifting suspect, who may have been planning a dinner party of crawfish stew or etouffee, is wanted for walking out of a New Orleans grocery store with several packs of frozen crawfish tails in his pants.

New Orleans police detectives say the man walked into Canseco's Store on Elysian Fields Avenue last week shortly after 1 a.m. a.m. with a shopping basket. Police say he grabbed ten packs of frozen crawfish tails and placed them in the basket. But before he reached the cash register, he reportedly placed eight packs of the frozen crawfish tails down his pants.

The suspect then proceeded to the checkout counter and paid for only two packs of the frozen crawfish tails. The police allege he walked out of the store without paying for the other eight packs, which was valued at approximately $75.00.

Once outside, police say he got into his car, which appeared to be an older model Chevrolet, possibly an Impala, then drove off in an unknown direction. He's described as a black male. He was wearing a blue or black and yellow sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark color shoes.
